Why Community?

An intentional Christian community may be thought of as a stable network of reliable and beneficial relationships that are established in Jesus and maintained by the Holy Spirit, practical expressions of God's love for his people.

Because we are all created to be part of a family and because the world, the flesh, and the devil seek to destroy family life, we must have the help and support of close, loving, faith-based relationships.  In other words - an extended family!

Everyone needs assurance, guidance, and assistance when going through important transitions in life.  Community is a family style approach to life transitions where we are surrounded by those who really love us and who will walk with us because they have our best interests at heart.

Christians need both encouragement and inspiration as they try to fulfill their call to discipleship while living in a secular world.

Community provides relationships that are vital to one's social, mental, and spiritual well-being and growth, where we develop a secure network of deep and trusting friendships.

Every Christian needs a safe place where they can be encouraged to be open to hearing God's word and have the guidance and discernment of mature leaders in the faith.

Mother of God Community is a Catholic and ecumenical charismatic community standing in a long tradition of spiritual renewal movements within the Catholic Church.

Our calling is to live out the gospel and to grow in the knowledge of God through prayer, fellowship, evangelization and service.

Members include Christians from all walks of life; families, couples, priests, and singles. We represent a wide variety of professions and backgrounds, yet are all united by a common desire to live out God's call in fellowship and community.

The community is canonically recognized within the Archdiocese of Washington as a "Private Association of the Faithful" and is a member of the Vatican's Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic Covenant Communities and Fellowships.
